Cornelius the puppy needs help on Christmas
Photo of Cornelius the pit bull puppyCornelius is an approximately 8-month-old pit bull mix puppy.

He was found wandering in the middle of a busy road on Christmas Eve. Covered in gasoline, he was originally thought to be black. Once cleaned up, a handsome brown dog was revealed.

Cornelius is suffering from demodex mange (click here for additional photos showing the extent of the mange--be warned, the photos may be upsetting). He's itchy and uncomfortable, yet still in good spirits.

He's a friendly and enthusiastic puppy, and does not appear to be terribly reactive to dogs or cats. What he really wants is to just play with squeaky toys.

The people who saved him from traffic and cleaned him up cannot keep him for long. They are renters and not allowed to have pit bulls (or pit mixes). If the landlord finds out, Cornelius will be forced to go to the local pound. The pound will keep him for a short SEVEN DAYS before euthanizing. They do NOT rehabilitate pit bulls in this condition. Rescues have been contacted and either cannot accept pit bulls or are overwhelmed.

Therefore, this poor pup needs a warm place to stay and heal. Can you help?

Cornelius is in the Orlando, FL., area. The people who took him in are willing to drive him pretty far to keep him safe and get him the help he needs.

If you can help, please send an e-mail to whereismybreakfast@gmail.com Thank you!

Lillian Booth has the worst gas ever lately.
We haven't changed anything in her diet.
She sits next to you, lets one, and leaves. Horrible beast.
    Everything else is fine otherwise.

Don't know if anyone saw this - but TIME ran a cover story in their Dec. 7 issue featuring great portraits of some of the dogs rescued from the St. Louis bust. The best part? The article is so positive!

I'll definitely be writing a nice note to TIME about this piece, and I hope some of you will as well.   What a great Xmas gift for pit bulls from the national media!

I recently joined a group on Facebook called Save the Pitbulls, related to Prop. SB861 in California. It's already passed, unfortunately but this page has information on California legislators who supported it. I live in Minnesota so I can't directly affect this, but for those who can, I wanted to provide information on whom to oust from their position.

For those in Ontario Canada, there's also this group supporting Bill 222.

Enter Your Pibbles in Beyond the Myth!
(this came to me in an email today from my pit bull rescue email list, so I am passing it on to you all!)

Would you like for your dog, your foster dog or a dog you've help rescue to be featured in Beyond the Myth? Do you or your organization have photos that would show a misguided public the truth about pit bulls? Well, here's your opportunity to let your beloved pet and family member shine on the big screen!

We're looking for more photos of pit bull type dogs in the following categories:

    1. With cats and other animals
    2. With children
    3. With elderly
    4. Therapy dog in action--at nursing homes, hospitals etc.
    5. Service dog in action--with you in public places like airports, restaurants, grocery stores etc.
    6. In complete hambone mode or costumes
    7. At shows, AKC and UKC as well as agility and weight pulling
    8. Abused dogs and their recovery, if they recovered

By pit bull "type" dog I mean, American Staffordshire Terriers, American Pit Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, American Bull Dog, Bull Terrier, and Minature Bull Terrier, and of course, any crossbreeds exhibiting pit bull type characteristics.

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

    1. Email me at BEYONDTHEMYTH@GMAIL.COM
    2. Include only high resolution pictures-- I cannot use small photos as typically seen on websites and Facebook.
    3. Include only THREE photos, and each must have a basic description.
    4. Provide a ONE paragraph summary of your relationship to the dogs, if they are rescued, pedigreed, name of dog, age, town or state you live in.
    5. If you email me you will be automatically added to a mailing list so that you can receive updates on the film, and as to whether or not your dog made the cut.

I will be accepting photos until the end of December, but please send them ASAP. AND, if you have HD footage of your dogs, please let me know in the email, as we may be able to use it.

Once submitted, you grant Libby R. Sherrill, and Cover Y'all Productions the right to use the photos in the making of Beyond the Myth.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!!
